Our recap of MINI United. Not a bad outing since Todd was only sorta here.
We noticed some interesting things about driving in Europe like the number of bicycles. They were everywhere!
Todd and I toured the MINI factory, Gabe drove on the ‘Ring plus we got to talk all those great people you already heard interviews of! It was a great event to be sure and if I were you, I’d start saving up for MINI United 2009 now! It will be worth it.
We still have a little bit of audio from MINI United coming as soon as Todd gets done selling/buying houses, plus full audio from our plant tour. If you missed any of our MINI United coverage, you can catch up by following the links below.
Like I said, there is a bit more audio to follow, as well as our tour of the plant. So keep an eye out for them!

One of the reasons Diesels are so prevelant in Europe is the cheaper cost of Diesel over there. When I got back to the States I was surprised to see how expensive it is here.
Harrods Schmarrods. Hamleys is where it’s at!
You want to talk currency conversion? Try 10 South African Rands to 1 Euro, and almost thirteen to the pound.
My trip to MU2007 cost me 2 months salary, or 8 months worth of saving all my spare cash after living expenses.
But, it was worth it, even if I could buy a case of beer at home for every 3 I bought at MU2007.
Best not to convert while you’re spending it, rather budget every day and stick to it.
I’m a little confused. You were talking about the 1-Series, but then Gabe mentioned getting in a limited edition 330. So did you actually sit in the 1-Series or do I need to re-listen?
‘Do not feed db Tequila’.
When can I order that Motoring Badge??

Terrific recap show, guys. Well done – very enjoyable. Especially the ‘make party’ stories.
I’m going to make party. Are you listening MINI Canada? Make party!!

There’s a limited edition 1 Series in Europe. That’s what I got in.
Oh, yeah. I remember that one. Looks almost Astro Black. LOL.
Enjoyed this show too š
Curious your comments about poor signalling in London … when I learned to drive in England, it was a requirement – INCLUDING signalling your intention on roundabouts. And lane discipline on roundabouts too.
I was shocked how bad it was when we emgigrated (1996) but apparently it’s now as bad in England as here (Boston area).
I blame the cellphones – they’ve mushed everyones brain š
I would agree. Every time I’ve driven in the UK I’ve come away shocked at how much better drivers are compared to the US. Outside London signals are used and courtesy is given frequently. An odd thing for someone from Chicago.
In London my experience has been: crazy… but good drivers.
I was listening to this podcast again and when Gabe mentioned that he saw a Weissman, it reminded me of a Top Gear, where Clarkson does a comparison of the Weissman MF3 and the TVR Tuscan MKII. For those who “acquire” Top Gear from the ‘tubes, episode three of season six features this review for anyone who is interested in seeing this phenomenal car.
