Todd and I talking about his new vehicle, news from MotoringFile.com and the F56. I have had a brief amount of time in the driver seat of both the F56 Cooper (with manual transmission) and the F56 Cooper S (with automatic transmission). Also, a very interesting list of current motor vehicle recalls that you can check out at nhtsa.gov. Ending with Gabe’s great interview with David Duncan, Vice President MINI of the Americas.

Wish everyone at MINIs on the Dragon this week and safe a fun-filled week! Take some twisties for us, and don’t forget to stop and see Chad!

  1. It’s refreshing to hear a take on the new car that differs from what I have been reading on MotoringFile. For what it’s worth, I’m on the same page as you guys regarding the Cooper. It feels too much like an fancy appliance (aka Toyota) than a MINI. It’s even more striking when coming from a R53.

Interesting interview especially since we’ve been waiting to hear from the new Chief Motorer since his appointment.

And yes, I totally want my artwork to become a badge!!

  2. Wow. I am so happy to get your take on the Cooper, db. It is disappointing to hear, but I’ll still go check it out for myself. I have an R56 Cooper that I love for its simplicity. It is bare bones, and I love it that way. If I could go back in time, the only things I would change would be to upgrade the lights, sound, add bluetooth/usb (now standard), and foglights.

What did you think of the seats? I have the standard seats in my Cooper, but I am a BIG guy.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think my next MINI will have an auto tranny. The stop and go traffic on my commute now is a real drag. I’ll wait for the eight speed, and the next Clubman to make my move.
