Interview: Luis Parocarpi of Lap Motorsports

I had the opportunity to interview Luis Parocarpi from Lap Motorsports before he headed south of the border for a Rally in this fine looking Countryman. We talked about the success at Daytona, the challenges of Sebring, a little history and the rally in the desert.

Be sure to follow along with this seasons IMSA racing. Next event is in May and can usually be viewed at imsa.com.

WRR Interview: Stephen Simpson MINI JCW Racing Team Driver

Last week we had the privilege of interviewing Stephen Simpson, one of the drivers of the MINI JCW Racing Team.

It was a great conversion not only because Stephen’s a great guy, but also because we learned so much about how the team came about and what made it successful.

The one thing that surprised us the most is the level of fan support the team received during the season. Of note they took the second place finish at Road Atlanta, the last race of the season.

And if you want to re-watch the race, it will air on Fox Sports 1 (FS1) tomorrow (check your local listings for time).

Q&A with MINIUSA Product Manager Chris Potgieter

>photo

During #mtts2014, we were able to speak with Chris Potgieter, MINIUSA Product Manager about questions that were submitted to Motoringfile as well as a few we had. As always, Chris was very forthcoming with details that he knew about and could speak about.

That includes:

  • Details on the forthcoming JCW exterior package (and the return of Chili Red)
  • Other JCW accessories and even info on the new tuning kit
  • A mention of touch-screens in future MINIs? It’s in there – not sure what it really means
  • Hints at forthcoming CarPlay integration
  • Update on new options available for 2015
  • Diesel updates
  • Timing on the F55 four door in the US

We start off with the news from MotoringFile, like we like to do. Then, roll into a couple of Ask Chad questions, including how we would spec a Cooper Roadster. Finish that off with a great interview with Patrick McKenna from MINIUSA where we discuss the GP, Paceman and just how awesome White Roof Radio really is.

This Thursday is the live show. You are going to be there, right? The party starts shortly after 7pm CST. Join us!

The MINI you see above, the JCW Paceman, was the topic for this weeks show, along with a few other nuggets from the NAIAS in Detroit, news from MotoringFile and even an Ask Chad question. WRR HQ in Kansas experienced technical difficulties, so you don’t get that. What you do get are some fantastic interviews that Gabe and Nathaniel did while at the NAIAS with some of the who’s who at MINI and MINIUSA!

You also hear about some event updates. First up is the Eurotechs Tech Day, featuring our man Todd working the custom graphics. If you want to get on some of that, sign-up before spaces run out! You could wait for AMVIV in May, but there might not be enough time. You can also watch for Todd at the Philly Meeting later in March. There might be a small spot still open for graphics, use the link above to contact Todd to find out.

Also, if you missed it, whiteroofradio.com got an update this week, you should check it out.

News from Motoringfile, including an interview with Rob Pasaro, Head of the BMW App Center Mountainview. And as Todd prepares for his actual birthday celebration, he continues his quest to remind you of famous people who were born this month.

Moving on to Ask Chad, one of the questions was about Cooper exhuast systems. The ones we mentioned in this episode are the Megan Racing, Magnaflow and the Borla. Since we are talking Cooper, we also have a bead on a JCW Sound Kit for the R50 if you are interested. You can hear Todd’s original review here.
